My father was an instructor navigator at Ellington during the Korean Conflict. I'm not sure it was as early as '50, but was wondering where to go to find out. I am his son Andrew Thomas and I am looking for one of his buddies that flew with him, a gentleman by the name of Jerry Parker. Forum Changes Three things have changed at the website. First, after over 5 years with the EzBoard Company, on 13 February (today), they mandated a new "look and feel" of the Forum (Briefing Room). Circa 1951 to 1954 Navigator Training

A retired USAF officer and navigator once told me that his nav trng. in the early fifties was up to 15 months in duration. The curriculum had a massive amount of weather training, plus advanced radar. This type of format only lasted for a few classes. Can anyone shed some light as to the actual training format and/or if there were special assignments for these nav's after they received their wings?

There is a former US Navy, (maybe prior USAF) Convair T-29D radar-nav trainer on the civilian owned-abandoned Mercer Field in Georgia: one hour north of Atlanta off I-75 (east side of the Inter-state), south east side of Calhoun city.

The T-29D #51-5145 here was recorded as a plane in the World Aircraft Museum Inc., PO Box 368, Calhoun, GA 30701

Tim,

I would be glad to help in adding a category for "Decorated Navigator's". There are three Air Force navigator Air Force Cross recipients from the Vietnam War, and I'm sure there are many others of whom were decorated for valor. We may even have the category titled "Notable Navigator's", therefore, including any Nav that has made a notable achievement.

Just a few thoughts on a cold morning in Indiana.
