I’m Vic Vizcarra, an old Thud pilot who flew out of Tahkli RTAFB in 1965. I’ve been working a project to produce an animated documentary of the first counter-air mission against SAM’s in Vietnam on July 27, 1965. As you can imagine, trying to reconstruct events almost 50 years later to reflect the mission accurately is very challenging. One important piece of information I have not been successful in pinning down is the call sign of the EB-66 that supported us during that mission. The 66 was also out of Takhli and preceded us to set up an orbit over North Vietnam to provide real time SAM radar status. Any help you can provide getting the word out on your website I would love to contact anyone that flew or knew of that mission. Specifically, I’m looking for the call sign and verification of how the information was transmitted. I know we heard blanket calls over the radio on SAM radars if they were up or down. I’m pretty sure the calls were directly from the 66 but need to verify it.

Thanks and my thanks to all those EB-66 warriors who supported our missions up North so many years ago.
