There are three Air Force navigator Air Force Cross recipients from the Vietnam War, and I'm sure there are many others of whom were decorated for valor. We may even have the category titled "Notable Navigator's", therefore, including any Nav that has made a notable achievement. Just a few thoughts on a cold morning in Indiana. Kurt Mather 80-01

Lets see what happens. Of course, names would have to be properly vetted and cleared with individual concerned if that information is not already in the public domain. Any links to web pages or books that support the information should be included with the names along with a semi-complete description of the issue and background if appropriate. He is the author of, "On Celestial Wings" and he wrote a book on surviving the Bataan Death March, and his solo-sail around the world, and he is working right now on another book! Great books. A number of other Navs over the years have been authors and I'l like to see if or where we could post the titles of their works. Any suggestions? Some wrote specifically about navigation and others wrote about all types of subjects. What do think? Thanks, Ron Barrett, AFNOA Historian

Posts: 10 ( 4-Mar-08 17:52) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	A few more books by Navs (all WWII B-17 guys): - "The Fall of Fortresses" by Elmer Bendiner - "A Wing and a Prayer: The Bloody 100th Bomb Group" by Harry Crosby - "Luck of the Draw: Reflections on the Air War in Europe" by Frank D. Murphy, another 100th BG nav. I've read the first two and loved 'em. Haven't found the Murphy one yet. Also: Our bomb wing currently has all three ops squadrons commanded by navigator Lt Col's, definitely something you don't see every day. Maybe a good sidebar for the DR? CHEERS! Von_L
